24: Blake

Text: The first three stanzas of William Blake’s “Auguries of Innocence,” with guests from New York City.

A partial pop music “Auguries of Innocence”:

Sound files recorded on Sunday, October 17, from 2:30-4 pm, at the Baltimore Free School.
Chorus: Lucian Kahn (vox), Beth Lerman (vox), Joe Martin (mus. dir., guitar), Dara Weinberg (vox, dir.)

The core group also met off-site in Charles Village from 1-2 pm on the 17th to continue our review of Stevens, Crane, and Wright. Present: SE, JM, DS, DW, GW (all but RG). We began with a quick review of “Emperor of Ice-Cream,” which was successful. JM taught DS and SE the octaves-based part for “My Grandmother’s Love Letters.” We incorporated a rest / pause before “And I ask myself.”

All levels session: We drafted DW’s visiting friends, who had just arrived from NYC, to make up a spontaneous chorus for Blake. We did not return to “The Hag” as promised.
